New Year's Resolution 2013

Happy New Year 2013

Wow .....
Can you believe how quickly 2012 has passed by.  Why, it only seems like yesterday when here I sat one year ago saying .....

It's already 2012

As I look back over 2012 ... it has been amazing.

My most precious, little grandson, Ian was born this year in March.
My mother survived colon cancer surgery in which I almost lost her in April.
And, I, myself became very sick in June and survived my "oatmeal diet" that I was on for over three months.

The other personal achievements ... I have made

I lost over thirty-five pounds and I have KEPT IT OFF after being diagnosed by diabetes!!!
And, I started this blog and I have had more fun than I would have ever imagined.

I continue to have new goals to complete in 2013 ....

1.  I want to lose another twenty pounds.
2.  I want to completely master my CS5 Photoshop
3.  I want to take a minimum of one image daily
4.  I want to exercise no less than three times a week no matter what
5.  I want to only see the best in everyone, everything and our world
6.  And, I want to love my family and friends more because they are the most
treasured and cherished part of my life.

Now, onward to my freebie for the New Year:

Here is my preview:

       You can download this at:
I hope that this new year brings everyone all the dreams that they have deep in their hearts.  May all your loved one stay close even if you are apart.  May silliness become part of each single day of your life.  May you look at the world once again with the eyes from your childhood.  May you be willing to only see the best in every situation.  May every "red light" be just about to turn shiny green.  And, may the sun always, always be at your back.
Hugs, Sue

Dear Santa

I have been wondering this morning ..... did everyone get what they wanted Santa to bring?

Now, with that thought in mind I thought I would poke a little fun this bright and sunny morning.

Here is my preview:
You can download this at:
I just couldn't resist poking some fun at this timeless "problem" that does happen from time to time.  Sorry, dear St. Nick .... but, I just couldn't resist.  I guess, I've just been placed on his naughty list for next Christmas!!!!!
I also want to tell everyone, my Miss Allison did pretty well yesterday.  She has been experiencing sleep apnea and it has been a little frightening for her parents, especially her mother.  Thier family doctor sent them to a specialist on December 24th and he advised that her tonsils be removed immediately due to their size.  I was quite amazed that the specialist moved that quickly and that her surgery was scheduled on December 28th.  The only problems she experienced was some vomiting when she was in recovery.  Hopefully this corrects the problem of sleep apnea.
With that I bid you all a good day.  Everyone stay warm.

Christmas Cheer

Oh .........

Yes, the opening of presents is just around the corner. I must tell everyone though I have already gotten my christmas present.

I know, I know .....

I needed to wait until Christmas Day!!!

But .........
I needed to learn to use it before that day!!!

And without delay .......
I got a brand new camera from my hubby.

And, just to show you what wonderful photos it takes .....
Here are a few.

This is called the Five Seasons of Corn
Marion, Iowa

Walking in downtown

This is in one of our restaurants
She just captures the joy of winter wonderland, to me.

This is one of my Christmas Wooden Decorations I made many years ago.
I had a Outdoor Yard Business called "Holidays R' Us"

Home decorations in my home
I am a lover of Santa's and Angel's

Here's a image of the entire nutcrackers, as well as,
my husband, John's Christmas trains in the background.

And now for my freebie of the day

You can download it at:

Here's a couple of more photos I took yesterday afternoon when I was finally able to see through the blowing winds and actually see the SNOW.

A photo taken from the inside of the warmth
of my son, Drue's home of our
first snowfall of the year

One of the Christmas Wreaths
outside of my home
and isn't just the most
I still GET SO lost in the beauty of the white.  Yesterday was a pretty hard day because we had winds over 50mph and a huge snow blizzard throughout the night until early afternoon.  Not fun at all to be outside, much less trying to snowblow your driveway and sidewalks.  Almost hit my husband in the head with the shovel because the winds caught it and blew it right out of my hands.  Luckily I didn't kill him.  Hopefully all the streets are cleared later today so I can really get out and take some photographs.
Hugs to all, Sue

Can you feel the excitement building in the air???  It is almost Christmas Day!!!!  I just can't believe how fast it has come.

I don't know if I have told everyone this is my very, very favorite part of year.  I feel so much happier, more giving, more grateful, more soft in my reactions and just plain giddy.

With that ....... here is my latest freebie.  It is one that I have seen before, however, this again is my

Cookies For Santa

I have tried very hard to reach my 100th follower for one week
without any success
and that caused me to just seek out that
101 follower
I would like to let you know her name is
Mary aka Silver Butterfly

My gift to her was the kit called
Holiday Hoopla
by Snickerdoodle Designs and Kimberkett Scraps

Congratulations, Mary

my next surprise will come with my 150th followers

Now every child knows that on Christmas Eve, what do you bake for Santa?
Why .... it's cookies!!!!  It is so important that Mom knows that her children  just can't go to sleep without those special, homemade goodies sitting on a plate for Santa along with a big glass of milk.

Afterall, Santa has to deliver so many presents that night .......
And, your child or children want to make sure he doesn't get to hungry or tired before he makes a stop to thier house.

Here is my preview of today's freebie:

Open Hands

 Today I honor the children
Today I pray for the parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers
Today I honor the adults
Today I pray for their families; husbands, children, parents
Today I ask for my own personal strength of understanding
Today I hold my own family just a little closer and count my blessings.
Today I pray for them to stay safe.
And, I thank My Lord.
twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air....
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

My freebie today is to honor these
children and adults
and to pray for a safer world.

This has not been an easy thing for me .... it so hard to understand that evil walks among us like this.  My brain has had such a hard time wrapping itself around this taking of so many young lives.  My heart has felt so heavy since hearing the news for the first time on Friday.
What has it caused me to feel and do .....
On Friday I called my daughter, Angie in Texas just to check on her.  She is a teacher in Katy, Texas.  All I could think of .... what if this had been her elementary?  I just had to hear her voice.  She spoke of protecting her own class; talking to those individual children that became frightened, calming her parents that called over the phone wanting to know "how safe are my children" and she told me she cried.  Her crying, made me want her to know how much I loved her and I told her so.  I think all of us ... whether a tear was shed or not ... we cried.
Then on Saturday I spent the morning with my son, Drue who lives down the street.  It was just an ordinary morning ... playing with my grandsons.  But, what was important to me was to be near my son and to tell him how much I loved him.  For you see, even at 32 years old .... he is my child.
Then on Sunday, we were all suppose to go to my daughter, Christa's son's basketball game.  Instead, I just went shopping with my oldest child, Christa.  I spent a total of four uninterrupted hours with her laughing and talking.  We talked about the tragedy and in the middle of Younkers Dept Store ... I started to cry.  She said "Mom, what is wrong".  She saw how upset I was and just took me into her  arms and said "I love you".
That night at the dinner table when I looked around at my whole family ... my husband, my children and my grandchildren, I looked at each and everyone of them.  John usually says grace when our family gather for a meal, but last night I gave grace .....  and it was just the normal funny blessing I always say for my grandchildren, but in my heart I know I was thanking God for keeping my family safe and allowing me to hold them just a little bit closer.

Today I went to one of my favorite blogs and her words had such an impact on me, that I did my freebie around those thoughts it brought forth in my mind.

You can download at:
Here are the words that had such an impact on me:

Giving without expectation of return is another way to help us develop that all important spiritual side of our nature. For those of us who celebrate Christmas, this is the perfect opportunity to practice the art of giving without expecting anything in return. There are certain things we should do just for the inherent goodness attached to doing them. The fact that you have done something right should be the only reward you need in these cases. Once you’ve conditioned your mind this way, the actuality is that you do indeed get something in return. Kevin Sinclair describes these benefits in his article, “Give Without Expecting Return”. When you give without expectation you benefit in the following ways: “a higher state of awareness; the pride that you have given something of powerful, lasting, un-aging value to the world; and, you have made the world in which you live a better place, which can only benefit you even if indirectly and not in any immediate sense.”
Lisa @ Decosse Dynamite Doodles

Even though what Lisa is talking about is giving,
my wordart today represents
those that are lucky enough to be the "one" receives this wonderful act.

Now, today I hope everyone doesn't mind .....

But, I need a little break from creating Christmas themed wordart.  And, I am in one of my "let's be silly moods".  That spells out to a HUMOR freebie today.

And, here is what happened.  I awoke this morning with a fall!!!!  You see, we have one of those beds that are very high off the floor .... and I rolled over and FELL OUT OF BED!!!  And, if that wasn't bad enough (afterall I have been sleeping in this STUPID bed for over 20 YEARS), I got up off the floor and walked right into the WALL!!!!!
Don't know if this means I am going to have one of those UPSIDE DOWN days ......

Lisa @ Decosse Dynamite Doodles

Here is the preview of
my wordart
created just for her:
I wanted to do something extra special that has to do
with the words of the holidays and friendship.
I have included all five (5) words with definitions in this freebie
You can download this at:

and this element
of a Santa Bear

You can download this element in png file at:
And now to her quote dated  December 4, 2012:

"Just a quick clarification question.  Are you saying that ALL you old images will no longer be available after Dec. 7??  As in I have 3 days to download YOUR ENTIRE ARCHIVE????"

"Eeek, hear chills ... Let me know if I am panicking for nothing.  Ive got everything since I started and most of the zoo wordart although there were a few links that weren't working there in that section that I have written down somewhere around here."

The reason why I chose this one:
She started off asking me to clarify for her ... which of course made me think ... hummmm.

Then she ask if she only had three days to download my entire archive.  Now, that made me start smiling.

Then she ask ... should she panic!!!!  I just started giggling and the naughty side of me wanted to say YES, YES, YES!!!!!  But, I knew if I did that ... LISA WOULD CALL SANTA and I would be in trouble.

And she ends by saying ... I'm missing some of your links, but I don't know where I put them!!!      How can I not be a good girl!!!!  And write her back and say "DON'T PANIC"!!!!

I am still chuckling over that comment.   YOU ARE SO CUTE TO EVEN THINK I'D CAUSE YOU TO DO THAT MUCH WORK

Changing Back To 4-Shared

Attention everyone,

I want to let everyone know that I will be returning to the site called 4-shared on December 7, 2012 completely.  I have made a decision to discontinue using Rapid Share.  It is not because I don't love Rapid Share, however, they are having a price increase and they are just getting to expensive for me to continue to use.  As my blog is a totally free site, I do hope that everyone understands.

I hope this doesn't cause any confusion.  I have just completed transfer of all of my freebies in the month of November to 4Shared.  I will transfer all of October tomorrow.  And, September the following day.  If I am not able to complete them, I promise I will let everyone know how far back you will be able to grab my freebies.

The reason for the transferring over of my past freebies on Rapid Share is I have just found out that when I don't renew with them, you will not be able to download any of my freebies that I put through that site.

Everyone, please be patient .... I will get this completely done for all.

Hugs, Sue

p.s.  Should you have any questions, just please let me know.

Dedication Monday

*** I am in the process of changing back to 4share.  I am going to be transferring all of my freebies from the month of October and November to 4 share.****

It's Dedication Monday
Just a time of celebration
for me to recognize the
comment of the week

You can download it at:
and the winner this week is:

You can find her at:  http://cardcrafterscircle.blogspot.com.

Anne-Marie, this freebie was created just for you
and don't forget to go grab your award.

This week's was so much fun for me to pick out because I received soooooooo, soooooooo many, many  "comments" on my wanting it to snow!!!!!  However, the top honor goes to Miss Anne-Marie.

Sue, I just KNEW there was a reason I loved ya...apart from the gorgeous artwork...hahaaa....but I thought NOBODY loved the beautiful white stuff more than I! We have the same weather as you do, at the moment, but have a forecast for SNOW on Monday...woohoo!
And you have to have already guessed that I LOVE this gorgeous artwork....thank you, my li'l snow buddy!

Why I picked this one:
Anne-Marie, you definately are my snow buddy anytime and anywhere.  Just telling me that you didn't think anyone loved snow more than you, sure made me feel like we are "sister's" in love of that white stuff.  Are you up for a snowball fight?

I'm not a big fan of snow but your adorable artwork is making me want to see it snowing outside. Thanks!
Why I picked this:  Mariah, I love the fact that you want it to snow, too.

Cindy John 3:16 @ http://stampartistry.blogspot.com.
I hear ya, Sue...it IS absolutely gorgeous when it snows, but better you than me. Tee hee!!! I do remember the beauty of it though. We're in for a big rain storm here in Sunny??? California!!! We're expecting 4-6 inches of rain - that's a LOT of rain.
Again TY for the freebie - you're awesome!
Happy Winter!

 Why I picked this:
Cindy, you did say you love the "beauty" of snow, however, you made  me laugh when you said "better you than me".  And, rain storms .... they're for "sun bunnies" that think snow is cold!!!

Donna: @ http://donnasdigitalcreations.blogspot.com.
Sue this is adorable! Thank you. Our weather is just like yours, no snow in this part of Minn and it's the 1st of Dec tomorrow! What's with that? The northern part of the state has gotten quite a bit. We are suppose to have 50 degrees here this weekend! We have to have snow for Christmas!

Why I picked this
Donna, I'm grinning .... us folks from Mid-America don't  always  understand why we're not getting snow when all our neighbors are.  So, I am placing my wish in the "winter snow bag" for you, too.  Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Lisa @ Decosse Dynamite Doodles @ http://decossedynamitedoodles.blogspot.com.
You my dear can have all the snow you want. If there was a way I'd just ship it all right to you immediately. Anything for you! We have a few inches on the ground and it has been around the past few days. I think it is here to stay.  Hugs

Why I picked this:
Lisa, now what can I say to .... I can have all the snow I want, you'll  just ship it to me!!!  Can you send it UPS, please?  Slow boat to China oops .. to Iowa just won't work.  I WANT SOME OF THE WHITE  STUFF!!!!

Hugs with xoxoxox's,  Sue

Have been naughty or nice?

*** If you are doing loading this one after 12/3/12 the Rapid Share will only be available until
12/7/12, after that please download from 4Shared. ****

Have you been naughty?  Have you been nice?  Or have you been both?  Now, that question is asked by every single parent in the world at Christmas time.  Is it our way of trying to get our children to be good?  Is it our way of just smiling inside because "every single child" knows to be good at this time of year?  Oh... the tricks we will use.

Here is my wordart for today.
You can download this at:
***** I have two naughty or nice freebies *****
Just grab both in rapid share!!!!
I have made this freebie two different ways
One for the "nice" children
One for the "naughty" children
I do hope that all of you have gotten into the Christmas Spirit and that each day of December is filled with the "Wonder of Childhood".  There is nothing more heartwarming than looking through the "eyes of a child" especially this time of year.
Hugs, Sue
